Colquitt Regional to host regional COVID-19 testing site

Colquitt Regional Medical Center announced Wednesday that it will be partnering with Augusta University and the Georgia National Guard to provide a new regional COVID-19 testing site that will be available beginning Friday, April 24.

The site will be located in the Colquitt Regional visitor parking lot (lot closest to South Main St.). Those who are being tested should use the 31st Ave. entrance.

“We are very appreciative of Gov. Kemp making these resources available,” said Colquitt Regional President and CEO Jim Matney. “This partnership with Augusta University and the Georgia National Guard will increase availability and access for people in our region who are exhibiting symptoms associated with COVID-19.”

To be tested, patients must first complete a virtual screening. Patients will then be given an appointment time to drive up and get tested for coronavirus between the hours of 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. seven days a week.

“Moultrie is a desirable location for this testing site because it is centrally located in Southwest Georgia,” said Matney. “We are also fortunate in that we have had a lower volume of COVID-19 patients so we have the resources readily available to facilitate this testing site.”

The virtual screening can be accessed in the AU Health Express Care app, which is a telehealth platform for Apple or Android devices. Patients can receive free virtual screenings there or at the AU Health COVID-19 Virtual Screening website (https://www.augustaexpresscare.org/landing.htm).

The patient will see a list of providers and the provider will come online and see them live on video to ask questions and clarify their risk. Talking face to face allows the provider to notice any possible clues as to the patient’s risk. If it is determined the person is at high risk, they can set an appointment to be tested.

Colquitt Regional will maintain its COVID-19 hotline (229-891-9380) and patients testing positive who need assistance managing their symptoms are encouraged to call the hotline. Staff will be able to direct them to the Sterling Physician Group or a Georgia South Family Medicine provider.
