MOULTRIE, GA —The Leapfrog Group assigns hospitals a letter grade of “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” based on more than 30 measures of safety performance. Colquitt Regional once again earned an “A,” reflecting its continued commitment to maintaining high standards in patient safety and quality of care.
“We are honored to receive our 22nd ‘A’ safety grade from The Leapfrog Group,” said Colquitt Regional President and CEO Jim Matney. “This recognition speaks to the consistency and dedication of our entire team. From clinical staff to support services, every department plays a role in ensuring our patients receive safe, high-quality care every day.”
Colquitt Regional maintained strong performance across key patient safety measures, including computer-based medication ordering, safe medication administration practices, ICU physician qualifications, error prevention leadership, staff teamwork, bedside nursing care, and hand hygiene. The hospital also continued to achieve high marks in patient communication, scoring 93% in communication with nurses and 92% in communication with doctors.
“Earning an ‘A’ grade time and time again reflects a culture that prioritizes patient safety at every level,” said Hospital Authority Chairman John Griffin. “Our community can take comfort in knowing that Colquitt Regional consistently delivers safe, reliable care close to home.”
Colquitt Regional continues to invest in safety-focused initiatives and technologies designed to reduce preventable harm. These efforts include enhanced infection prevention protocols, advanced medication safety systems, and ongoing staff education and training. The organization remains committed to fostering a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
“Our commitment to safety extends beyond day-to-day operations through continued enhancements in facilities and long-term growth initiatives,” said Matney. “From the Ameris Bank Medical Education Center, which supports the training of future healthcare professionals, to plans for the new Hufstetler Tower, which will expand patient capacity and services, Colquitt Regional is continually investing in the resources, technology, and infrastructure needed. These efforts help ensure our community has access to safe, high-quality care for generations to come.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only national hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable errors, injuries, and infections. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and available to the public, with updates released each spring and fall.
