MOULTRIE, GA —At the heart of the campaign is the construction of a new medical tower, a significant investment designed to address the region’s growing healthcare needs. Once completed, the expansion will increase the hospital’s licensed bed capacity from 99 to 155, add 35 new physicians to the health system, create 490 new jobs, and enhance surgical services, maternal and infant care, and critical care services.
Anchoring this historic effort is a $5 million signature pledge from Teresa and Steve Hufstetler. In recognition of their extraordinary generosity and longstanding commitment to advancing local healthcare, the new facility will be named the Hufstetler Tower.
“This campaign represents a defining moment for healthcare in our community,” said Colquitt Regional President and CEO Jim Matney. “The Hufstetlers’ transformational gift moves this project from vision to reality. Their generosity ensures we can continue to expand our health system and continue delivering high-quality care for our community for generations to come.”
Reflecting on his motivation to support the campaign, Steve Hufstetler emphasized the importance of meeting the community’s growing needs.
“Expanding capacity to meet the growing needs of our community is an important step forward,” said Hufstetler. “Teresa and I hope that our tower donation has lasting significance for healthcare excellence in this community. Having grown up here, with family and friends throughout the county, we know this investment will be responsibly used to increase access and strengthen care for years to come.”
Hospital Authority Chairman John Griffin said the Hufstetler Tower represents more than a physical expansion.
“This project is about strengthening the foundation of healthcare in our region,” said Griffin. “The Hufstetler Tower will enhance patient access, support workforce growth, and position our community for a healthier and stronger future.”
Campaign Philanthropy Chair Maureen A. Yearta, Ed.D., highlighted the critical role of community support in bringing the project to life.
“The Reaching New Heights in Healthcare campaign reflects what is possible when a community comes together around a shared vision,” said Yearta. “The Hufstetlers’ leadership gift sets the tone for this effort and inspires others to invest in the future of healthcare for our families, neighbors, and generations to come.”
The Hufstetler Tower stands as a cornerstone of the campaign, which has already demonstrated meaningful early success and, with continued support from the community, will leave a lasting legacy on healthcare in the region.
