MOULTRIE, GA —Throughout the past year, Colquitt Regional has added multiple state-of-the-art technologies to advance diagnosis, treatment, and patient experience. The hospital now offers Blue Light Photodynamic Therapy, a non-invasive treatment that targets and destroys precancerous skin cells while also improving the appearance of the skin. Cancer patients also benefit from the Paxman Scalp Cooling System, an innovative technology designed to help reduce hair loss during chemotherapy.
Colquitt Regional expanded its surgical and diagnostic capabilities with the addition of the da Vinci 5®, the most advanced surgical robot available today, as well as PET Scan services, allowing for enhanced detection of cancer, neurological conditions, and cardiac disease. The hospital is also treating enlarged prostate with remarkable precision using Aquablation® therapy and the HYDROS™ Robotic System. In Women’s and Children’s Services, the new Vibwife Birth Platform offers more flexibility and comfort for mothers during labor, supporting a safer and more positive birthing experience.
“These advancements reflect our commitment to providing world-class care right here at home,” said Colquitt Regional President and CEO Jim Matney. “Rural communities deserve access to the same technologies and treatment options found in major metropolitan areas. Every investment we make is focused on improving patient outcomes, elevating quality of care, and keeping families close to home.”
Colquitt Regional is also expanding access to care through medical education. Through Georgia South Graduate Medical Education, the system offers residency programs in family medicine and psychiatry, training a growing number of physicians to serve rural communities. In partnership with Wellstar Health System, Colquitt Regional recently launched a unique OB/GYN residency track that offers training in both Marietta and Moultrie, giving residents experience in suburban and rural hospital settings.
Looking ahead, Colquitt Regional has begun construction on a major expansion — a new patient tower scheduled for completion in 2029. The tower will add 56 beds across four floors, including expanded obstetrics, additional operating rooms, more critical care space, and two floors of new medical-surgical beds. The project will enhance capacity, expand specialized care, and improve the patient experience for a growing community.
“Our community can be proud of what is happening at Colquitt Regional,” said Hospital Authority Chairman John Griffin. “Rural hospitals across the country face tremendous financial and workforce challenges, yet we continue to grow, expand services, and invest in the future. These advancements are a reminder that rural healthcare is strong, innovative, and essential to the wellbeing of our community.”
