Facilities

The Edwards Cancer Center currently welcomes more than 7,000 patient visits every year. In early 2021, our new 6,700 square-foot facility will expand our capabilities to include a full range of hematology, oncology, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and radiation treatment services that you simply won’t find anywhere else within a 30-mile area. And here’s the best part — it’s all close to home, where you can avoid the travel and be surrounded by family and friends.

Construction Update

Set to open in early 2021, our new 6,700 square-foot Edwards Cancer Center is on schedule and ready to officially “Beam On” in March.

Technology

The Edwards Cancer Center combines advanced technology and equipment with the latest diagnostic and therapeutic techniques. From 3T MRI and 3D digital mammography to 4D image-guided radiotherapy with sub-millimetric precision, our only goal is to provide comprehensive and compassionate cancer care in a comfortable and convenient setting that is unsurpassed in southwest Georgia.

One advantage of our new state-of-the-art Elekta Versa HD radiation treatment system will be its flexibility to treat a broad spectrum of tumors throughout the body, while enabling treatment of highly complex cancers that require extreme targeting precision. This critical structure avoidance capability allows for pin-point precision as it isolates and radiates cancerous tissue. The resulting benefit, in many cases, will be faster treatment times, improved patient comfort, fewer treatments, fewer missed appointments and ultimately, better outcomes.

In addition, the new Elekta Versa HD will not be limited in the types of cancers it can treat or the types of tissues it can affect, whether they be lung, breast, skin, prostate or colorectal, just to name a few.

Our Facility

The Edwards Cancer Center is currently located in the heart of Southwest Georgia at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. It features state-of-the-art technology, a private entry and exit, and a highly-trained specialist, and is designed for the convenience and comfort of our patients.

Our new facility, scheduled to open in early 2021, will include a state-of-the-art Elekta Versa HD radiation treatment system as well as expanded expanded technology and equipment, it will include a lobby, consultation room, six exam rooms, two private dressing areas and a treatment facility.

COVID-19 and Patient Safety

Patient safety is our highest priority. Due to the condition of most cancer patients, the nature of most cancer treatments, and the increased need to protect those whose immune systems have been weakened or compromised, we pledge to meet and exceed all safety requirements resulting from the COVID-19 crisis.

  • Every inch of our new facility will be disinfected on an hourly basis according to the strictest cleanliness and disease prevention protocols.
  • Staff will wear masks at all times, along with appropriate PPE.
  • Patients entering the facility will be temperature-screened and asked to wear masks at all times while inside.
  • Social distancing will be strictly enforced, and appropriate distancing measures have been created in our waiting areas and exam rooms.
