Colquitt Regional Health System recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly named Mobley Pediatric Unit, located inside Colquitt Regional Medical Center. The unit was named in recognition of the generosity and enduring support of Farolyn and Patrick Mobley, whose contributions have significantly advanced pediatric care in Moultrie and the surrounding communities.

MOULTRIE, GA —

The Mobley Pediatric Unit is a six-bed, family-centered area designed to provide a warm, welcoming, and child-friendly environment for young patients and their families. Each room features a distinct theme—including space exploration, coral reefs, jungles, backyard farms, dinosaurs, and hot air balloons—creating a comforting and imaginative setting that helps ease anxiety during hospitalization.

“Our team understands that hospitalization can be a stressful time for children and their families,” said Colquitt Regional President and CEO Jim Matney. “This unit was designed to be warm, welcoming, and uplifting, while equipped with the newest pediatric technology. The Mobley Pediatric Unit represents a major step forward in keeping children close to home for care.”

The unit is staffed by specially trained pediatric nurses, physicians, and respiratory therapists, all utilizing advanced, pediatric-specific monitoring and treatment technology. The team provides expert care for a wide range of childhood illnesses and conditions in a setting built to meet the unique needs of children and their families.

“With this expansion, we are now able to care for even more children in our community,” said Chief of Pediatrics Woodwin Weeks, D.O. “The Mobley Pediatric Unit ensures that our youngest patients receive high-quality, compassionate care in a space designed especially for them.”

Common diagnoses treated in the Mobley Pediatric Unit include dehydration, asthma, influenza, urinary tract infections, pneumonia, appendicitis, gastroenteritis, and other viral illnesses.

“Having pediatric services close to home is tremendously important for families,” said Hospital Authority Chairman John Griffin. “Keeping children near their support system often makes a challenging time just a little easier. The Mobley family’s generosity strengthens our mission to provide exceptional care to every patient, at every age.”

At the ceremony, Patrick Mobley reflected on his family’s long-standing tradition of giving back to their community.

“We believe that when a community takes care of you, you should give back,” said Mobley. “We were raised to understand the importance of supporting others, and it’s something we hope to pass on to our children and grandchildren. It’s an honor to play a small role in helping provide care for families right here at home.”

Families who have benefited from care inside the unit have shared how much the environment and staff mean to them. Catherine Shannon, grandmother of pediatric patient Amirah, described the impact the unit has had on her family. “This is our home hospital; Amirah was practically raised here,” she said. “Coming back here feels like coming back to family. The staff on the 4th floor is so caring—Colquitt Regional is such a good family hospital.”
