Located in the heart of Southwest Georgia, the city of Moultrie is the county seat of Colquitt County. The city’s population of approximately 14,500 accounts for about one-third of the county’s population. Colquitt County has outstanding hunting preserves for dove, turkey, deer, quail and duck. Skeet shooting and sporting clay shooting are available at area gun clubs.

Agriculture
Colquitt County is known for its agricultural dominance, and Moultrie is the long-time host of the Sunbelt Ag Expo, an annual event that attracts thousands of visitors. Cotton and peanuts are among Georgia’s top cash crops, but Colquitt County’s agriculture is diverse, featuring vegetable crops such as tomatoes, bell peppers and eggplant.

Colquitt Regional played a pivotal role in the establishment of the first medical college in South Georgia. Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) in Moultrie offers a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree and a Master of Science (MS) in Biomedical Sciences. Colquitt Regional works closely with PCOM to facilitate clinical rotations, training and other educational opportunities at the hospital.
