John W. Mitchell, III Appointed to Colquitt County Hospital Authority

Moultrie, GA – John W. Mitchell, III has been appointed to the Colquitt County Hospital Authority, the governing body of Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Originally from Homestead, Florida, Mitchell moved to South Georgia in 1993 to attend Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) and has been a part of the community ever since. He began working in Moultrie in 1997, right after college, and became a resident of Norman Park in 2002 when he purchased farmland.

Mitchell has dedicated 22 years to the insurance industry as a multi-line agent, including the last nine years as an agency manager at Colquitt County Farm Bureau.

“It is an honor to be appointed to the Hospital Authority,” said Mitchell. “I look forward to collaborating with the board and the talented leadership at Colquitt Regional to uphold our mission of providing exceptional healthcare that exceeds expectations.”

He holds an Associate of Science degree in business administration from ABAC and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree  from Georgia Southwestern State University. Additionally, he has earned professional designations from the American College, including Life Underwriter Training Counsel Fellow (LUTCF) and Financial Service Specialist (FSS).

Active in his community, Mitchell serves as the agency advisor to the Colquitt County Farm Bureau board and is a member of the Colquitt County Airport Authority. He also participates in the Kiwanis Club as a committee chair and is involved with the Georgia Cattleman’s Association and the Colquitt County Young Farmers Association.

“Welcoming John to the board is a pleasure,” said Hospital Authority Chairman John Griffin. “His extensive experience and community involvement will greatly benefit our organization.”

He and his wife, Jill Stringfellow Mitchell, are proud parents of three children: Bill and Bobby Mitchell and Annabelle Roberts.

Mitchell fills the position previously held by Mark Mobley, who completed an 18-year term on the Authority in September. Other members of the Authority include Maureen A. Yearta, Ed.D., Howard Melton, MD, FACS, FASMBS, Richard Bass, Richard E. Turner, Jr., Johnny Brown, John Griffin, Justin Baker, MD, and Joe Baker.

“Colquitt Regional continues to achieve great success, much of which is due to the strong oversight from our Hospital Authority,” said Colquitt Regional President and CEO Jim Matney. “With the addition of John, we will continue to be well-positioned to champion our health system and build upon our achievements.”
