At Sterling Center Bariatrics, we want to set you up for success by choosing the procedure that is best suited for you. This decision is typically made during the initial consultation between you and your physician.

Yes. Most patients are on a special preoperative diet, usually two or three weeks before surgery. This diet aims to shrink the liver and reduce fat in the abdomen to help during the procedure and make it safer.

Some insurance companies require a physician-monitored diet three to six months before surgery as part of their coverage requirement. These diets are very different from short-term diets; they are more about food education and your willingness to complete appointments and learn.

While this varies for each person, most patients can go home within one to three days after surgery.

For most patients, it is safe to return to work two weeks after surgery. If you have a more physically demanding job, your physician may advise you to stay out of work for up to four weeks.

For the first few months after your surgery, there is a special diet in place to focus on healing your body. You will transition from clear liquids to full liquids, and then advance to pureed foods, soft foods and finally regular foods. Compliance with this diet allows your body to heal properly, decrease pressure on your stomach and optimize your weight loss.

Weight-loss surgery is only the first step in your journey to a healthier lifestyle. Your commitment plays a large role in your success. Our comprehensive program was built to support you for long-term success. You may experience weight regain if you are not fully committed and do not follow all the steps recommended by our team.

We know that finances are an important factor in any decision, especially regarding medical procedures. There are several financial options you can consider when evaluating whether or not to move forward. You can finance through Ameris Bank, with a rate as low as five percent. The Sterling Center Bariatrics team will walk you through your options.
