MOULTRIE, GA —The following physicians have been selected to serve in leadership roles on the Medical Executive Committee:
- Chief of Staff: Gary Swartzentruber, M.D.
 - Chief of Staff–Elect: Curt Starling, M.D.
 - Chief of Surgery: Emerson Harrison, M.D.
 - Chief of Medicine: Witemba Kabange, M.D.
 - Surgery Member at Large: Cory Porteus, D.O.
 - Medicine Member at Large: Sarah Nuzzo, M.D.
 - Surgery Member at Large: William Stembridge, D.O.
 - Medicine Member at Large: Kent Posey, M.D.
 
These leadership positions are voted on by members of the medical staff every two years, with one of the medicine and surgery members at large appointed directly by the chief of staff. This structure ensures a balanced representation of medical specialties and fosters collaboration across departments to continually improve patient outcomes.
The Medical Executive Committee plays a critical role in the overall governance and direction of the hospital’s medical staff. Its members are responsible for providing guidance on clinical policies, supporting quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring that the hospital maintains the highest standards of patient safety and care. The committee also oversees credentialing, continuing education, and peer review processes—key functions that help uphold Colquitt Regional’s reputation for excellence.
