MOULTRIE, GA —As construction gets underway, patients, visitors, employees and others coming to the hospital campus will see changes to parking, entrances and pedestrian access beginning Monday, August 24.
The construction project will take place in multiple phases over approximately two years. While these changes may create temporary inconveniences, they are necessary steps toward the continued growth and improvement of Colquitt Regional.
“We are incredibly excited about what this new hospital tower will mean for our patients, our employees and the future of healthcare in our community,” said Colquitt Regional Health System President and CEO Jim Matney. “We know a construction project of this size will bring some changes and inconveniences along the way, and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we work through each phase. We ask our community to pardon our progress as we build for the future.”
Beginning Monday, August 24, the designated construction zone will go into effect, and traffic and access patterns around the hospital campus will change.
The hospital’s Main/Emergency Department entrance on 31st Avenue will be the only point of entry for patients, visitors, employees, vendors, and patient discharges.
The 32nd Avenue entrance off South Main Street will remain available for employees and for individuals accessing Sterling Medical Park. However, this entrance will not provide access to the hospital’s Visitor Lobby or Cafeteria. Patients and visitors needing to access those areas should use the main hospital entrance on 31st Avenue.
As construction areas are established, some existing parking areas will be impacted and parking locations will shift. Patients, visitors and employees should follow all posted signage and directional instructions when arriving on campus.
Beginning August 24, temporary pedestrian walkways and directional signage will be established to help patients, visitors and employees safely navigate the campus and reach their destinations.
Because construction will occur in multiple phases, parking, traffic patterns and pedestrian access may change again as the project progresses. Colquitt Regional will communicate significant changes in advance whenever possible.
Patients and visitors are encouraged to allow additional time when arriving for appointments or visiting loved ones, particularly during the initial transition to the new access and parking patterns. To ensure a safe and comfortable environment for everyone, visits are limited to two visitors per patient at a time, and children under the age of 12 should not visit unless there are extenuating circumstances. All visitors are asked to check in at the hospital’s Main Entrance upon arrival.
The new hospital tower represents a significant investment in the future of Colquitt Regional and the communities it serves. The project will require temporary changes to the way patients, visitors and employees move throughout the campus, but these changes are an important part of creating a modern healthcare environment for generations to come.
“This project is about more than bricks and mortar—it is about making sure our community continues to have access to the high-quality healthcare it deserves for generations to come,” said Hospital Authority Chairman John Griffin. “We know the construction process will bring some temporary inconveniences, but we believe the long-term benefits will be well worth it. We appreciate our community’s patience, understanding and continued support as we make this important investment in the future of healthcare in our community.”
Updates will be shared through Colquitt Regional’s website, social media channels, local media outlets, and campus signage and directional information.
The health system will provide additional information and updated maps as construction progresses.
