Colquitt Regional Showcases Simulation Innovations at National Conference

Colquitt Regional Medical Center proudly participated in the 25th International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH) held in January at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. IMSH is a premier scientific conference dedicated to exploring the latest innovations and best practices in healthcare simulation, providing professionals with tools and resources to enhance skills and improve patient safety.

Members from the Colquitt Regional Educational Services Department, Simulation Technician Riley Viohl and Nurse Educator Jessy Plymel, RN, presented “Oh Clot, It’s Stuck” as part of an immersive teaching experience. This featured a hands-on session designed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to troubleshoot and manage continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) scenarios. The presentation highlighted creative techniques, offering attendees an innovative approach to realistic simulation experiences.

Director of Educational Services Kayla Long, RN, and Nurse Residency Program Coordinator Jessi Wilson, RN, also presented at the conference on the hospital’s implementation of “Mini Mock Codes.” Their comprehensive presentation focused on enhancing the competency and confidence of clinical staff in emergent situations through focused training sessions that emphasize critical thinking and skill development across various units. Their presentation provided insights into the implementation plan and shared practical tips to ensure the success of Mini Mock Codes within hospital settings.
