The Vereen Rehabilitation Center administers its Sports Medicine Program using a multidisciplinary approach, which aides in the recovery of injured athletes. A full range of rehabilitation and physical therapy programs helps an athlete recover from an injury or illness.
Vereen Center Sports Medicine’s athletic trainers are nationally certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification and licensed by the State of Georgia. Under the direction and supervision of Vereen Center Sports Medicine physicians, our staff provides athletic training services to several area high schools and sports organizations. Our athletic trainers provide immediate injury care, follow up injury treatment, injury prevention education, and cutting-edge rehabilitation services for student athletes.
Our Program
Vereen Center Sports Medicine provides:
- Streamlined system for referrals to physicians and diagnostic imaging
- On-site medical care for all home and away interscholastic practices, events, and competitions
- On-site sport-specific educational programming to student athletes, parents, and coaches
- Consultation to coaches on pre-season, in-season, and off-season conditioning programs
- Comprehensive concussion management program including baseline evaluations and ImPACT concussion testing
- ACL prevention programming for female athletes
- Athletic Training coverage for local special events

Our Services
Community & Special Event Coverage
Vereen Center Sports Medicine athletic trainers collaborate with physical therapists and sports medicine physicians to provide on-site medical coverage for community special events. Our staff coordinates medical coverage and staffing for various teams and organizations for events ranging from one-day tournaments to multiple day events.
Community Educational Programming
Vereen Center Sports Medicine athletic trainers and physical therapists are also involved in community educational outreach programming including lectures, community seminars, and continuing education events. These programs are offered to school administrators, coaches, parents, student-athletes, and the public.
“Black & Blue” Injury Clinic (Fall Only)
For any high school athlete who may experience an acute sports-related injury while participating in fall high school sports, Vereen Center Sports Medicine provides free evaluation of that injury during its Saturday morning Black & Blue Injury Clinic.
The program is designed to provide immediate evaluation of a recent sports injury and is coordinated by Vereen Center Sports Medicine athletic trainers and physical therapists. Participants receive a medical evaluation conducted by Vereen Center Sports Medicine staff along with other specialized care including fast-track access to diagnostic imaging.
Concussion Management Program
Vereen Center Sports Medicine is proud to offer the most comprehensive concussion management in the region, and it is available to all athletes regardless of age, participation level, or school affiliation. The components of this program include baseline testing, ImPACT concussion test, Proprio 5000 balance training, academic accommodations, and evaluation by a staff neurologist before return to play.
