Renee is the Director and Clinical Instructor of Speech-Language Pathology Services and the Learning Center at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie, GA. Renee graduated with a Master’s of Education in Speech and Language Pathology from Valdosta State University in 1993, a Bachelor’s of Science in Education from Valdosta State College in 1992, and an Associate of Arts from Brewton Parker College in 1990.
When she began working at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in February of 1994, she established the Speech Language Pathology Department. Renee has held a management position since 1997, and served as Rehabilitation Director from 1998-2006. During this time, she was instrumental in establishing Occupational Therapy services and the Wound Care Clinic. Renee established the Learning Center Program in 2012, which resulted in significant growth within a single fiscal year. To date, services have been provided to students within eight nearby counties. Effective in 2020, services were made accessible via Telepractice due to serving an increased number of students from surrounding areas due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Renee completed two clinical rotations; one in the educational setting at Norman Park Elementary School, and one in the medical setting at Capital Regional Rehabilitation Hospital of Tallahassee, Florida. On-going education has been a priority with Renee. She holds certification in Vital Stimulation therapy and Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing for swallowing disorders, and is also a provider of a Scientific Learning, Lindamood Bell and ST Math programs. The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association has awarded Renee with five ACE awards for exceeding professional level continuing education requirements.
Renee has served on various committees and boards, including: The Perinatal Maternal & Infant Advisory Committee for our local health district, Valdosta State University Communication Sciences and Disorders committee, Colquitt Regional’s Home Health Advisory Council, and the Early Childhood Collaborative Committee for Colquitt County.
Renee has many years of experience working with patients across the life span in the acute care, outpatient, community, and Home Health settings. Special areas of interests include: dysphagia, cognitive-linguistic functioning, and learning differences, especially, dyslexia and literacy. Renee is licensed by the professional board for the state of Georgia and holds national certification for clinical competency with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
